Camp Thunder -- YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING -- PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING.....

I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND EVERYONE. ALL LEADERS GOING TO CAMP THUNDER NEED AN UPDATED YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING. IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT, YOU CAN CREATE AN ACCOUNT AT THE CERTIFICATION IS VALID FOR TWO YEARS FROM THE DATE THE TRAINING WAS TAKEN. MIKE WILL NOT NEED THE CERTIFICATE IT SELF, JUST THE DATE THE E-CLASS WAS TAKEN.

I hope everyone had a good time at the Zephyrs Game and camp out. The summer is upon us, The last day of school is just around the corner. With all of this comes our annual summer camping trip. This year we will be leaving on Saturday, June 28, 2008. We will be headed to Camp Thunder, The Gerald I. Lawhorn Scouting Base. Start gathering your equipment. If you are not sure what to bring you will find a downloadable Packing List at the bottom of The Troop 610 homepage. [If you can not download it e-mail me and I will be glad to e-mail you one.] If you would like to take a look at the layout of Camp Thunder you can go to http://www.thunderbsa.org, there is a map link at the bottom of the page.

National Logo ContestIn honor of BSA’s 100th Anniversary, we want to create a memorable logo that captures the true spirit of Scouting... and, we are calling on Scouts all across the country to help us in the effort! We have launched a national contest to inspire creative thinking and engage Scouts at every level. Every registered Scout is eligible. Entries are due by Nov. 30, 2007. Winners will be chosen in several categories. The overall winner will work with nationally-recognized graphic artist and Eagle Scout, Kit Hinrichs, to format the design for broad use throughout our celebration
Recognition Every participant will receive a patch and certificate from BSA. Winners, chosen from the following categories, will be recognized at a May 2008 BSA National Annual Meeting: Overall design Best Design by an Eagle Scout Best Design by a Venturer Best Design by a Boy Scout Best Design by a Cub Scout or Webelos Scout The overall winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to San Francisco, CA to work hand-in-hand with Kit Hinrichs to finalize the 100th Anniversary Celebration logo design
